What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic system that relies on clear aligner trays to straighten your teeth. Many people choose Invisalign as an alternative to traditional braces due to its discreet nature. Rather than having a full metal smile, with brackets and wires, you can remove and wear invisible, plastic aligner trays that shift your teeth into a more aligned position.

Traditional braces may also require more time than clear aligners. While treatment with Invisalign may take up to a year, braces might require longer, taking up to three years to complete*.

What issues can Invisalign correct?

Just like braces, Invisalign can correct several dental issues. At Marvel Dental, Dr. Gazu may recommend Invisalign for:

• Overcrowding
• Overbite
• Underbite
• Crossbite
• Open bite
• Spacing issues

For more severe overcrowding and spacing issues, Dr. Gazu might recommend braces. During a consultation for orthodontics, she can help determine which treatment is the best for your needs.

How does Invisalign work?

During your orthodontic consultation, Dr. Gazu takes X-rays and digital impressions of your teeth to create a treatment plan that maps out the movement of your teeth into the more optimal position. She sends the plan to the Invisalign lab, which creates your custom clear aligners based on the plan.

Once the lab creates your first set of Invisalign clear aligners, you return to the office to try them on. Dr. Gazu can explain how to wear and take care of your new aligners during this visit. You’ll need to change into a new set of aligners every two to three weeks, and each one will gradually move your teeth into better alignment.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?
